We’ll be presenting the main features of Stylo, a web-accessible semantic text editor for writing in the humanities and social sciences. Since the project’s launch in 2017, one of its objectives has been to provide a tool capable of changing and improving the academic publishing chain, particularly the workflow of journals in the humanities and social sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stylo is based on a principle known as single source publishing: from a single source Stylo can produce different objects in various formats such as HTML, PDF, XML. The implementation of this principle relies first and foremost on a WYSIWYM (What you see is what you mean) interface and the use of three formats to manipulate the source: Markdown for body text, YAML to serialize metadata and BibTeX to structure bibliographic references.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this workshop, we’ll show how to create and write text in Stylo, as well as the various functions for manipulating the elements that will form the source of our documents, which we can then export in a variety of formats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 l\u2019occasion de cet atelier pour les HSS Winter Series, nous pr\u00e9senterons les principales fonctionnalit\u00e9s de l\u2019outil Stylo, un \u00e9diteur de texte s\u00e9mantique accessible sur le Web et destin\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9criture en sciences humaines et en lettres, afin d\u2019en assurer la prise en main.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depuis les d\u00e9buts du projet en 2017, l\u2019un des objectifs poursuivis est de fournir un outil capable de changer et d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la cha\u00eene de publication acad\u00e9mique, notamment le flux de travail des revues en SHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stylo repose sur un principe nomm\u00e9 single source publishing\u202f: \u00e0 partir d\u2019une seule source, Stylo peut produire diff\u00e9rents objets en divers formats tels que HTML, PDF, XML.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019impl\u00e9mentation de ce principe passe d\u2019abord par une interface WYSIWYM (What you see is what you mean) et l\u2019emploi de trois formats pour manipuler la source\u202f: le Markdown pour le corps de texte, le YAML pour s\u00e9rialiser les m\u00e9tadonn\u00e9es et le BibTeX pour structurer les r\u00e9f\u00e9rences bibliographiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lors de cet atelier, nous verrons ensemble comment cr\u00e9er et r\u00e9diger un texte dans Stylo ainsi que les diff\u00e9rentes fonctionnalit\u00e9s pour manipuler les \u00e9l\u00e9ments qui constitueront la source de nos documents que nous pourrons ensuite exporter en divers formats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
