Instructor: Kendra Oudyk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop is meant to give you the skills to create and publish a static website using Jekyll<\/a> and GitHub Pages<\/a>. We\u2019ll explore the default Jekyll installation setup and walk through the steps to publish a basic web site. We\u2019ll cover the basic building blocks of Jekyll sites and discuss best practices for organizing your content. Finally, we\u2019ll look at customizing your Jekyll site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prerequisites:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Some experience working with code syntax and code editors is helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\u00a0GitHub.com account<\/a>. We\u2019ll use GitHub Pages to host our static site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some familiarity with working in a command line \/ Unix shell interface. If you don\u2019t feel comfortable doing this, please first start with this workshop:\u00a0Intro to the Unix Shell<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some familiarity with Git and GitHub. We\u2019ll use Git and GitHub workflows to publish our site. If you\u2019d like to learn more about Git and GitHub before going any further, please see this workshop:\u00a0Intro to Git and GitHub<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n
