SUMMARY:Introduction to Data Analysis with SPSS
DESCRIPTION:Date: 14 November 2024 \n\n\n\nThis beginner-level workshop will introduce you to the basics of SPSS statistical software\, how it works\, and some basic descriptive statistics and statistical procedures. No prior knowledge of SPSS is required. This session will be recorded and made available openly. \n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes: Get started with data analysis using SPSS after learning various functionalities of the software application. \n\n\n\nDetails: Any preparatory work for the session can be found on its information page. This virtual workshop will be recorded and shared on the same page\, and discoverable via the Sherman Centre’s Online Learning Catalogue. \n\n\n\nFacilitator Bio:  \n\n\n\nVivek Jadon (he/him) provides research support in the use of numeric research data. As part of his role\, Vivek is McMaster University’s official representative for Statistics Canada’s Data Liberation Initiative (DLI) program and Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). Both of these programs provide researchers with vast archive of research data from various disciplines for high quality research and instruction. Vivek is also involved in building awareness and promoting RDM activities/services at McMaster.

Because this event is a practical workshop\, it is very useful having a secondary screen where you would get the instructor window on one screen and your own window on your main screen. \n\n\n\nWe will use the Jupyter Lab interface. En intégrant la cartographie dynamique avec des éléments narratifs\, ARCGIS StoryMaps permet de partager des contenus de manière engageante et accessible\, facilitant ainsi la communication visuelle de données et d’analyses. \n\n\n\nLa première partie de l’atelier propose un tour d’horizon des principales fonctionnalités de ARCGIS StoryMaps et des étapes nécessaires pour vous lancer dans la création de votre premier récit interactif. Dans la deuxième partie de l’atelier\, notre équipe sera là pour vous aider à créer votre premier récit en ligne adapté selon vos champs d’intérêts et besoins. \n\n\n\nAtelier présenté et animé par Simon Côté-Lapointe \n\n\n\nSimon Côté-Lapointe est bibliothécaire en histoire\, philosophie\, sciences des religions et linguistique et responsable des humanités numériques à l’UQAM. Il est détenteur d’un doctorat en sciences de l’information portant sur les archives audiovisuelles.
