SUMMARY:Gephi Part 2: Conducting Network Analysis
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will build on the Fall 2023 workshop “Gephi Part 1: Introduction to Network Visualizations” to look at how one can conduct network analysis for research. We will go through a case example together and discuss more features that researchers can use to design their own network visualizations.

SUMMARY:The Humanities and Scholarship in a Digital World
DESCRIPTION:Two parts: January 19 (10 am – Noon) and February 2 (10 am – Noon) \n\n\n\nThis two-part workshop will bring together people working in the postsecondary sector (faculty\, librarians\, students\, administrators) to discuss and reflect on knowledge making in the humanities (and in academia more broadly) within a society enmeshed with networked digital technology.  \n\n\n\nWorkshop One will provide a brief overview of the history of “digital humanities” and some key debates within the field before asking participants to reflect upon and share their own past\, present\, and possible future engagements–positive\, negative\, and ambivalent–with digital technology. \n\n\n\nWorkshop Two will ask participants to share and discuss a proposed digital project of their own: this could be a digital creation (an edition\, a database\, a data visualisation\, a tool\, a game)\, a course or course assignment\, a plan for self-directed study\, an analysis of a digital artefact or phenomenon\, or something else. \n\n\n\nRegister here: https://torontomu.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwrf-CprTktGt0oEPkn59R9TCEZKKd7qMpe \n\n\n\nTHIS IS A HYBRID WORKSHOP AND MAY BE ATTENDED IN-PERSON OR ONLINE. \n\n\n\nThe information above will be posted on the CDH’s newsletter: https://cdh.rula.info/newsletter/.

SUMMARY:Create Your Academic Website: The WordPress Edition
DESCRIPTION:Researchers and faculty doing DH work will inevitably need to display their research findings or create a portfolio of work. Our goal is to equip researchers with the knowledge and digital tools to set up these sites. We will do this through an introductory workshop to teach attendees fundamentals of website creation\, including choosing a domain name\, choosing a host and platform\, and by creating basic functioning websites interactively and together through WordPress. \n\n\n\nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will have learned how to select a domain name and web hosting provider for a personal or research website. Participants will have also created a simple personal website using WordPress\, hosted for free on wordpress.com\, able to be further developed\, customized\, or ported to a different domain and host. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is intended for faculty and researchers in the Digital Humanities\, including graduate students and postdocs\, as well as staff. No prior experience creating websites is required or expected. \n\n\n\nMatt Lefaive\, the Digital Humanities Developer in the CDHI\, will lead the workshop. Registration through Eventbrite is required.
