Researchers and faculty doing DH work will inevitably need to display their research findings or create a portfolio of work. Our goal is to equip researchers with the knowledge and digital tools to set up these sites. We will do this through an introductory workshop to teach attendees fundamentals of website creation, including choosing a domain name, choosing a host and platform, and by creating basic functioning websites interactively and together through WordPress.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have learned how to select a domain name and web hosting provider for a personal or research website. Participants will have also created a simple personal website using WordPress, hosted for free on wordpress.com, able to be further developed, customized, or ported to a different domain and host.
This workshop is intended for faculty and researchers in the Digital Humanities, including graduate students and postdocs, as well as staff. No prior experience creating websites is required or expected.
Matt Lefaive, the Digital Humanities Developer in the CDHI, will lead the workshop. Registration through Eventbrite is required.
