Difficulties encountered while manipulating or analyzing large data sets with spreadsheets can be avoided with Python scripts. In this workshop, you will learn to perform basic data analysis, from loading data to visualizing it. A few software libraries will be introduced, such as Pandas and Altair.

Prerequisites
- PYT101 completion or understanding the basics of object-oriented programming
Course plan
- Session 1 (2024-11-20, 09:00 – 12:00)
- Pandas and DataFrames;
- Indexing, slicing, and selecting datasets.
- Session 2 (2024-11-27, 09:00 – 12:00)
- Combining datasets;
- Automating analysis;
- Data visualization with a specialized Python module.

Darcy Quesnel, analyst in advanced research computing at Calcul Québec.
Technical prerequisites
We will use the Zoom platform. Because this event is a practical workshop, it is very useful having a secondary screen where you would get the instructor window on one screen and your own window on your main screen.
We will use the Jupyter Lab interface. Make sure you have a modern Web browser like Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.
