Setting up a New Reproducible Research Project: Data Sharing, Documentation, File Formats, and More!

Reproducible research means setting things up so that after a late-night moonlight and caffeine powered deep work breakthrough you can wake up the next morning and know what you did and explain it to your supervisor. It also means that research results can be verified independently, and researchers can more easily share and use methods and tools developed by other researchers.

This session will explore what reproducibility and replicability are, why they matter, and what it means to call your research reproducible. We’ll discuss tools and techniques for making your research reproducible, and discuss code based and documentation based approaches to reproducibility.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the principles and key concepts of reproducibility
2. Document their research process
3. Discover tools and techniques for implementing a reproducible research workflow
